First Confessions
Mood:  hug me

This is a fun blog about working in my lingerie shop and the people that I encounter there. Some of my entries will be positive and some will be negative. These are my thoughts and they are not intended to offend anyone.I am relaying to this blog what life is like selling bras, panties and other lingerie to people of all ages, sizes, races and nationalities.
Sometimes, the truth hurts...

Read and find out what the women who sell intimate apparel really think about their customers...

* * * * * * * * * * *

About a month ago a young woman (about 20) came into the shop to buy a bra. She was cramming her breasts into a bra that was about 3 sizes too small. She thought that the giant bulges created by her tiny bra severely cutting into her breasts was 'showing off all of her cleavage'. "Don't you think it's sexy," she asked. I measured her for a bra that was the correct size and when she got undressed from a HUGE sweatshirt (that effectively covered up the bulging 'cleavage') the stench of body odor filled the entire dressing room. I do not understand how people can stink so bad and not even notice themselves, or the flys that they attract. Or worse, they know that they stink and don't care. Either way - when one goes into an intimate setting in an upscale (or any) shop please, please bathe!
Her B.O. was so bad that my eyes literally watered and I felt sick to my stomach. The smell 'stuck' to my skin and inside of my nose and mouth. Needless to say that I washed immediately after contact.
This young woman bought a surprisingly lacy and feminine bra (in her correct size!) after I convinced her that pinched, bulging bulges are not sexy.
I can 'see' that woman in her old tiny bra on the pages of Glamour Magazine's "Do's and Don'ts" page with a big black bar across her face.

Other women who need to have a big black bar across their faces;

Women who wear white under white. (Essential Alert!: Nude color under white for caucasions. Darker tans and browns for darker skinned women. White under white only shows off the white underwear).

Visible panty lines, or VPL. There are so many styles of panties available that no woman should be showing off the horrid VPL. For those that fear thong-type panties there is the boyshort. Still, some women insist on staying with those nasty, eye assaulting VPL violations.

Which brings me to another subject; Those that fear the thong panty. Some women use age as an excuse, "I'm too old to wear something like that". Which is a bullshit excuse. Suggest a thong and some customers get a scrunched up look on their faces and wave both hands frantically while shaking their heads no, as if imagining the physical sensation of what an entire panty shoved up one's ass to the point of impossible extraction would feel like. (Essential Alert!:! Thin thong-type panties are not only comfortable, but with the right size and style it's like wearing nothing and still having coverage in the needed places).

Which brings me (again) to my next gripe; SIZE! If a woman does not want to know, does not care, or will not believe the bra fitter - Why does she come in to my shop and request a bra fitting?! In her mind she is a 36C, because that is what she wore the last time she liked her body.... But now she's a 40D and she's squeezing into a bra that is too small, all for the mental comfort of "still wearing the same size I wore in High School".
There are also the shoppers who are very small breasted, like a 34A, who will buy 34C bras and then 'float' their shirts over the bra as the empty bra cup creates a bump under the clothing. These women will not even try on a bra in their correct size, they're convinced (and they try to convince me too) that their giant bra is the proper size.
Black bar girl.

I've had wonderful encounters with lovely men and women, like the 84 year old woman who, after trying on every style bra that I sell, loved and bought the very last one she tried on. She was delightful. A 36DD and very hard to measure because her very full breasts were low. I was surprised to see that even though she hung low those 84 year old breasts were still full and not unattractive. Many 40 year olds with big breasts are lower, and they have nothing over this 84 year old woman. There's hope for the rest of us.

Body image in the dressing room can be heartbreaking. Apologizing for body flaws is something that only young women do. "I'm sorry my back is spotty from sun damage." "I'm sorry I'm so fat" - this one coming from a size 1! These comments come from beautiful women. It's like the prettier the girl, the more insecure she is. And, they ARE actually apologizing to me as if it is painful for me to look at them. That is the heartbreaking part - women who through self loathing have come to be sorry for the way they look. (I know about BDD).

More and more interesting tales posted soon.
